Our Team

Altus Kotze is Director of Photography on the US Sportsman channel show - Get Away To Africa and has gained substantial experience from the Hunting Film Industry.
Having embarked on thrilling adventures, ranging from Elk Hunting in New Mexico to capturing the formidable "Dangerous 7" in Africa, as well as successfully filming over 48 episodes of the hunting show "Get Away To Africa" with the exceptional team at Kaiwhai Safari's, featured on the Sportsman's Channel.
Altus's passion lies in sharing the skills and techniques he has mastered over the years to empower others, enabling them to confidently enter the industry and develop a foundational understanding of the art of filming the hunt.

This person boasts a significant tenure within the hunting film industry, characterized by substantial growth and a wealth of knowledge acquired during his ventures across the African continent.
From intense encounters with elephants to daring encounters with charging buffalo, his experiences have been both diverse and extensive.
His wealth of knowledge makes him a valuable addition to the team, bringing a rich reservoir of expertise to guide students through an exciting 10-day Hunting Film School program
Course Summary
The safari film industry, particularly in Southern Africa, presents a significant and lucrative opportunity for skilled camera professionals. This comprehensive course has been meticulously crafted by seasoned individuals within the industry to equip you with the finest insights, techniques, and guidance essential for excelling as a camera operator in this specialized field.
Over the course of ten days, we will delve into a multitude of subjects, providing in-depth exploration and understanding of camera settings, filming techniques, the industry and how to film the hunt.
By completing this course, you will not only gain the competence necessary to become a freelance videographer, capturing the authentic essence of safaris and hunting expeditions, but also have the skills and knowledge to embark on establishing your very own production company in this dynamic industry.



























Gear Requirements
Kindly, be informed that equipment rental isn't included in the package; nevertheless, we've got some rental gear at your service. If you're fortunate to have a friend or family member willing to lend you equipment for the course, it's a green light.
If not, explore rental options by getting in touch with a trusted camera store such as ORMS or Outdoor Photo. The gear that we will be using in the course and every day in the field:

Syllabus Overview
Day 1
Upon arrival and introductions, we'll commence with camp orientation, followed by our initial class session and hands-on practice as the sun sets.
Day 2
Commence the day with a post-breakfast class addressing camera settings, maintenance, and various camera equipment, followed by practical fieldwork.
Day 3
On your inaugural hunt, you'll apply the knowledge acquired in prior days, while also delving into techniques for walking, stalking, and the significance of proper positioning.
Day 4
Starting with a class sessions, you'll master proper footage backup procedures and touch upon fundamental editing techniques, while in the field, we'll seize the opportunity for another hunt.



























Day 5
We'll venture into the field early to capture scenic landscapes and wildlife, possibly engaging in another hunt, all while exploring interview techniques and trophy photography.
Day 6
The vast openness of the Northern Cape will enable us to delve into drone work to explore the possibilities of aerial photography and videography.
Day 7
With ample time for quality animal and scenic footage, our focus will shift to creating the Lodge promo video and capturing the overall experience.
Day 8
During the theoretical session, we'll delve into a selection of industry-related topics, followed by a Q&A session, and we'll also explore the art of filming food and the camp experience.
Day 9
On the second last day, we'll gather any necessary footage to craft an excellent Hunting and Lodge promo video, while also commencing the rough cutting and editing of your photo's and video for your final projects.
Day 10
On the course's concluding day, we'll recap the 10-day journey and celebrate while we enjoy the lodge and hunt films crafted during the course.
